San Joaquin County, CA

Project List

Client:
San Joaquin County, CA
Project:
Citygate partnered with Design Workshop to support the completion of the San Joaquin County Park System Plan for Parks and Recreation. Citygate assessed existing parks and recreation programs and services provided to the community, reviewed organizational structure and functionality, and identified opportunities for greater efficiency and effectiveness to meet the County’s mission and goals. Citygate also evaluated existing agreements maintained by the County with partner agencies; compared staffing levels and operational capacity to national averages; and assisted with a benchmark analysis that includes programs, services, revenue/expenses, and community use. For this engagement, Citygate provided a recreation trend analysis that considers national and state recreation trends and local demographics and reviewed the County's current fiscal conditions to make recommendations regarding potential funding strategies to support the Park System Plan's implementation. Based on Citygate’s extensive review and the public engagement and community assessment processes managed by Design Workshop, recommendations were developed to identify future needs as forecasted to meet population growth and demographic shifts—including recommendations and strategies to provide a more seamless provision of services, facilities, and programs.
